CITROTEC® ACHIEVES ASME CERTIFICATION.

The seal, a global reference for the commercialization of pressure equipment, is the result of the employees' intense work and significant investments by the company.

Citrotec® has received the ASME Certification, the most widely used reference standard worldwide for the production of pressure equipment. The seal is required by 140 countries for the commercialization of products such as boilers, pressure vessels, high-pressure pipelines, and safety valves, among others.

The last audit to obtain the ASME Section VIII, Division I Certification and the "R" stamp for repairs on sealed vessels took place in March. "This very important achievement is the result of intense work by the employees and significant investments by Citrotec®," emphasizes Citrotec's® Quality Coordinator, Pâmela Thomaz Marques.

The coordinator explains that the seal assures the company's customers of the reliability of acquiring products built under the most rigorous international quality controls, ranging from design, raw material procurement, and manufacturing processes to the use of modern tools for quality control and certification of welded joints. "After receiving this certification, we are qualified to manufacture sealed vessels or repair vessels already sealed by us or by other manufacturers who have the same requirement.

We also rely on LRQA - ASME Authorized Inspection Agency to inspect and oversee all projects," highlights Marques. In Brazil, Citrotec is the 60th company to achieve certification. "We are very proud of this new achievement," says Citrotec's® Technical Director, Paulo Sampaio.

CERTIFICATION PROCESS

The process to obtain ASME Certification and the qualification of the certificate holder involves the following stages:

• Implementing a quality control system in accordance with the ASME Code;
• Conducting a pre-review audit together with an authorized inspector and supervisor;
• Conducting the joint review with the ASME team leader along with an authorized inspector and supervisor.

Once certification is obtained, authorized inspector interventions are required to verify the correct application of the ASME Code during the manufacture (design, construction, assembly, hydrostatic testing, etc.) of sealed pressure vessels. ASME conducts a joint review audit for manufacturer recertification every three years.

ASME CERTIFICATION

Founded in 1880, ASME (American Society of Mechanical Engineers) covers everything from the critical analysis of the contract to the final testing and marking of the equipment. In this way, it is a complex and unified quality system that requires changes in the company's culture, based on a clear and comprehensive vision of the system's objectives and procedures.

Authorized representatives in Brazil monitor the entire certification process and, in the final phase, audit the quality system of the company applying for the certificate.

Citrotec® went through all the necessary processes to obtain certification, with a specialized team that involved the engineering, production, shipping, welding and boiler making sectors, led by the quality department.

“After the tireless dedication of the entire team, achieving ASME certification is another important step in the development of our equipment, generating greater safety and quality for customers”, says Sampaio.
